GENERAL INFORMATION:
In preparation for the fast approaching, fall hunting season, I have compiled some information to help you with your plans. We will be leaving home in Montana in late August and will be with the hunting operation in Saskatchewan through October 2nd. The best way to leave a message is at Phone: 406-560-5512 or fax 406-782-0055. We will check for messages regularly. Camp Cook Lodge phone (August 30 - September 30 ONLY) 306-845-2945. Use the same number for someone to get a message to yourself while you are hunting with us. Emergency ONLY number: Bentley Brown, cell number 306-845-7819. Camp Cook Lodge phone 306-845-2945
GUNS IN CANADA: As of 2001 you must now register your guns at your port of Entry into
Canada and pay a fee of $25 Canadian (appx. $21 US). Forms and instructions are available at:
HUNTING LISENCES: These are provided by us to you in the form of a wildlife export permit at the end of your hunt for all the animals you might have collected.
LODGING & MEALS: We will all be staying together at our new camp. Camp is primitive yet comfortable. With no power or water we use propane and out houses. Each cabin sleeps 4 people. Couples will have their own cabin. These cabins are very warm, dry and comfortable.
ALCOHOL: We do not encourage drinking except in very moderate amounts at the end of the day such as a beer or glass of wine with the evening meal. Excessive drinking will not be allowed for reasons including safety.
TRAVEL:
1. If you are driving up, see map.
2. If you are flying up via private plane, fly into Lloyd Minster. There is private plane service and fuel at LIoyd Minster. There is full jet service and plenty of runway for any size plane.
3. If you are flying commercial, you should fly into Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, rent a car and drive to camp. (see map) It is a two hour drive from Saskatoon to camp. I suggest getting your tickets early for availability and cost savings. You might also fly commercial into Edmonton, Alberta and get a rental car to come to camp, however it makes the drive to camp about 4 hours.
Non-Hunters: Unless discussed during booking, we charge $250 per non-hunter. We will go out of our way to include them in as much of the hunt as they desire. Non-hunters may at any time join in on the fun and collect an animal of choice if they desire. Note: We welcome your non-hunting companions, however we must know in advance of their coming for planning of bed space, etc, otherwise we might not have room for them.
MEAT: "Paradise Hill Meat House" handles all of our meat cutting, wrapping, shipping and documentation of meat. Contact them directly in advance of your hunt. All of the meat from your animals is yours. However there are U.S. Border regulations. We have a waiting list of local people who are delighted to come and pick up any unwanted meat. None will go to waste! If you are driving I suggest you bring some large Coleman coolers. Coolers also work well if you are flying and want only part of the meat. Be sure to bring a cooler with you as they are scarce up here.
PARADISE HILL MEAT HOUSE: BASIC PRICES
Elk-$375; Deer-$150; Buffalo-$450-$900 (depending on size)
Basic Price Includes:
TROPHIES: Our primary goal is to get your expensive, irreplaceable skins and horns to you in excellent condition. Carefully consider the following:
All capes will be skinned off, cooled, and then frozen. There will not be time to allow for fleshing, turning lips, ears and salting for your immediate departure. Air Plane cargo space is too limited for large elk racks etc. All wildlife parts must be declared and cleared through customs at your port of clearance. Horns and skins are some times damaged or lost on commercial airlines.
Considering all of the above I strongly suggest that you use the services of Atcheson Taxidermy. Atcheson Taxidermy will flesh skins, turn ears and lips and salt your trophies. They will also steam clean and disinfect all skulls so that they can be exported out of Canada. After the hunting season is over, Atcheson Taxidermy will personally clear all trophies through US Customs, US Fish & Wildlife and Agriculture by using a commercial broker and their U.S. Federal Fish and Wildlife Import/Export license.
Once the trophies arrive at their Taxidermy Studio, you can have Atcheson Taxidermy mount your trophies or have them ship to any place that you desire. Please see attached Brochure and rate sheet for cost to expedite trophies out of Canada and on to you or the charges for Atchesons to mount and ship trophies to you. All of Atcheson Taxidermy clients receive a 69% freight discount with Con-Way Trucking, Yellow Freight and Fed-Ex. I also might add Montana is a sales tax free state.
Atcheson Taxidermy was established in 1951 and they are internationally renowned for their museum quality work, quick service, reliability and honesty. They are one of the largest companies in the field of taxidermy today. I am sure you will discover that their mounts surpass the quality and workmanship of all the other taxidermists. You can rely on them! Please visit Atcheson Taxidermy at www.atchesontaxidermy.com. You can also contact Tom Hardesty Sr. (owner of Atcheson Taxidermy, Inc.) at 406-782-0569 or 406-560-5569.
Note: Services of Atcheson Taxidermy are not included in the price of this hunt.
If you are driving up and are planning to haul back your trophies, bring along extra coolers for your frozen capes to keep them frozen. With proper export papers from us you will not encounter any problems at the border going home.
CLOTHING: Expect moderate Fall weather and bring medium warmth gear. We normally do not encounter extreme winter weather in Sept. We are never far from a shelter and will not be staying out for any great length of time. We are not bothered by bugs. A huntable rain suit might be handy in case we are caught in a shower.
Additional Animals: Elk is the primary objective on most hunts. We want each client to collect the Trophy Bull Elk of their choice and dreams. After the clients have their Elk they may desire to hunt for additional animals. (Please see the pricing for each species). No additional days are needed for additional animals.
PAYMENT: Unless noted, all prices are in U.S. funds. Unless prior arrangements are discussed, payment of all additional animals and/or non hunters will be due at the end of each hunt.
I sincerely look forward to seeing each of you this fall.
-Joe Hardesty
